Roof Service Company was established in 1929 and has operated under its current management since1973.
Peter Smith is a 5th generation roof slater, having learnt the trade from his father and grandfather. In turn, Peters brother, son and nephew are also involved in the roof slating business.
The Smith family have been involved in slate roofing both in Australia and England.
Roof Service Company is committed to providing only quality slate roofing and regularly visit slate quarries in Spain and Wales.
These visits help ensure only first grade slate is available. The Spanish slate quarries that supply Roof Service Company also hold the highest Standard for slate available – the French Standard for slate is the most prestigious and hardest to not only obtain but also retain. Quarries that achieve the French Standard for slate are subject to a minimum of four unannounced visits by slate experts each year. Slate samples are randomly chosen from finished (cut) product, raw material and offcuts/waste for testing purposes.
All slate samples must pass these rigorous tests to ensure retention of the Standard.
Roof Service Company also has many recycled slates available. These are used for repairs and completing extensions of existing homes. This way, the new and old section (or repaired section) does not stand out and the entire roof has a uniform look.
